Battle the Cold

With temperatures dropping below freezing, it’s an ideal time to talk about keeping that belly warm. As you have probably already figured out, cold drafts are your biggest enemy when it comes to bundling up. A big pregnant belly tends to push out clothing, making it easy for drafts to go up the bottom of your coat or shirt, which is really uncomfortable! Another problem that I personally encountered was a shortage of maternity coats on the market. For some reason I had no problem finding lightweight coats and jackets, but when I tried to find a heavy duty coat … Continue reading

Tips for Camping While Pregnant

One of America’s favorite summer past times is camping in the great outdoors. My family and I will be heading out to a nearby state park this weekend to camp with some friends. One of them happens to be pregnant. The last time I went camping, I was also pregnant, but I was only three and half months along. I am looking forward to seeing her, but I also can’t help but wonder what it’s going to be like for her. Sleeping in a tent with a big belly? No air conditioning? (What do you think, Sarah? Cold Weather Tips for Pregnant Women

Much to my dismay, we ended up having to turn to the heat on in our house this week after I woke up one morning shivering. When I checked the thermostat, I was shocked to see it read 63 degrees. You can bank on the fact that pregnant women run a little hotter than usual and enjoy the draft of cooler air from having your coat open. Layer your coat over a zip up sweatshirt. A maternity sweatshirt … Continue reading

Add icy sidewalks and parking lots to the mix, and walking around outside can be downright nerve-wracking. I always took extra precautions when I was pregnant. Here are a few of my tips for preventing fall-related injuries when you are pregnant. Hold hands. Whenever possible, if you have to walk across an icy parking lot, walk with someone else and hold hands. If you slip, they can help … Continue reading

Getting Your Maternity Wardrobe in Gear for Fall

Now that the highs are getting lower and the lows are frigid, your maternity wardrobe might need a little adjusting. Don’t pack up the t-shirts yet, though, there are still some ways you can wear them. Here are some tips for transitioning from warm-weather clothes to fall fashions: 1. Long sweaters are in style, so find one that falls just past your hips. 2. Tights … Continue reading
