Creative Maternity Mug Shots

Most pregnant women have their picture taken from the side to show off their pregnant profile. While this is a great way to record your progress, it can get boring week after week. To spice it up a little bit, try switching up your perspective. Depending on your angle, your picture can have a completely different mood. For funny maternity portraits, try taking pictures from an angle that make your belly look oversize. For example, have someone take your picture from the bottom side of your belly with your face peeking over the top. Try looking scared or surprised, as … Continue reading

When Should You Have Your Pregnancy Pictures Done?

Have you scheduled your maternity portrait session yet? There are a few things to consider when deciding when to have your pictures taken. If you have them taken earlier in your pregnancy, you won’t have a very big baby bump. That may or may not matter much to you. The issue is the concept of ownership. In particular is the issue of ownership of ideas. I’ve titled this post “Ownership and The Syllabus” because I was recently reminded of this issue when another instructor made a comment about some of the initiatives happening at many universities. The issue at hand was the syllabus and its status as a public/open rather than private/restricted-access document. Housed within this comment are some overarching principles and frustrations … Continue reading

Creating a Photo List for the Delivery Room

Your baby’s birth will be a whirlwind of activity. From the moment she enters the world, time will seem to speed up and she’ll grow up right before your eyes. In the first few days of life, a baby’s appearance changes dramatically. Everything from her skin tone, to the shape of her nose, to the curve of her tiny head, morphs as she recovers and adjusts to her new surroundings. After all, she was crammed in a pretty tight space for nine months; she’s bound to have some serious bedhead, among other things. In all the hustle and bustle, you’ll … Continue reading
