Feel Refreshed Without a Nap

Ideally, pregnant women should nap every day. This is especially important during the first and third trimesters when exhaustion is at its peak. However, napping is not always possible. Mothers to be who work or are home with other children have a difficult time getting rest during the day. If you work full time, there are some things you can do to feel revitalized. The hours after lunch are when most people feel tired at work, whether they are pregnant or not. This time is sometimes referred to as the afternoon slump. However, for single parents where overextension can be the rule rather than the exception, we need to keep in mind that exhaustion can impair our ability to see clearly, make good decisions, and be truly present to meet the challenges of our families. There have been those times when I’ve let myself get so far gone … Continue reading

Low Cost Family Fun

Find great ways to have fun as a family without spending a lot of money. Here are some ideas: Have a Potluck Party Invite friends or neighbors over and ask each person to bring something to eat or drink. Organize who is bringing what so no one else brings what you are making, and so everyone doesn’t bring the same thing. You don’t want five bags of pretzels and no beverages. You can even ask someone to bring paper plates, cups, or napkins. Since each family is only responsible for one item, it won’t cost anyone much money, but everyone … Continue reading
