More Fun Pregnancy Symptoms: Leg Cramps

In the middle of the night a few weeks ago I woke up with a terrible pain in my leg.  I cried out about it, and immediately began trying to rub and move my leg.  My more-than-half-asleep husband drowsily watched me do this.  He watched me try to bend my leg, to rub it, to put weight and hobble around the room on it.  When I made it to the bathroom he followed me, and asked me if I thought I was just having Braxton-Hicks.  In my leg.  Now we know that if I go into labor in the middle … Continue reading

Pregnant or Trying to Get Pregnant? There’s an App For That

Since there’s an app for almost everything these days, it should come as no surprise that there are plenty of apps out there that have been designed for pregnant women. I’ve got an Android smartphone, so these are Android apps. Many of these apps have Apple counterparts that you can find by searching in iTunes. Here are descriptions of three free apps that I think might come in handy during your pregnancy. Contraction Timer by L-J-Holmes is an app whose title leaves nothing to the imagination. When you start to experience contractions, it is important that you time them so … Continue reading

Being pregnant can actually be a lot of fun, if you think about it. Here are some of the things that make pregnancy a fun and enjoyable time. Feel free to read over this list on those days when you are sick of feeling sick, tired of feeling tired, and just plain aggravated at the world and at the amount of swelling in your ankles. Go Ahead, You’re Pregnant

When you are pregnant, you may notice that people seem to treat you differently. Strangers hold doors open for you, and other strangers try to touch your growing belly. People you do not know and have never met ask you when you are due. Everyone seems to have something to say to you or do for you. It can feel a bit strange at first, but it can actually be kind of fun and freeing to embrace the whole “pregnant thing” and get away with things that you would not if you weren’t pregnant. For example, although the concept of … Continue reading

The Mormon Mom Blog Squad

There really could be a squad for all the Mormon Mommy Bloggers out there. Actually, it would be more like an army, not a squadron. But, that’s beside the point. I recently wrote an article titled, Mormon Mommy Blogs, that talks about the obsession with these blogs. I have to admit, I’m part of that obsession. Sometimes, I find myself looking at these blogs and my head is spinning. After all, I’m a MM Blogger too. I don’t have advertising, and sponsors, and loads of followers. I secretly might want all of that though. I don’t know, maybe I don’t. … Continue reading

Adoptions: Non-Refundable?

I’ve always loved children. I’ve been babysitting my whole life, went to school to become an elementary grade school teacher, and taught preschool for two years after graduating. Since becoming a mother, I look at children in a totally different light. Before, kids were just kids. I liked them, and most of them were fun. However, some were cute, some weren’t as cute; some were brats, some were angels. Now, when I see a child, I think to myself, “Someone carried that child in her belly for 9 months. Someone gave birth to that baby. Someone probably loves that child … Continue reading

Pregnant Buddies

I would love it if I could time my next pregnancy with my sister’s first. There is just something so special about being pregnant at the same time as a close friend or a sister. I tried timing my first pregnancy with a couple different friends, but ended up sandwiched in between their due dates. As most women know, there’s only so much planning you can do when it comes to picking a due date. Babies are born when they are meant to be born, regardless of our efforts to synchronize their birthdays with cousins or friends’ babies. Still, there … Continue reading

The holiday season is upon us, and if you are pregnant the mere thought of all of the shopping, cooking, cleaning, and everything else that you usually do for the holidays might leave you feeling exhausted.
