And now for some celebrity gossip, Pregnancy Blog style. Let’s start with Tori Spelling, who is currently 33 weeks pregnant with her first child, said to be a boy. If that wasn’t news enough, Tori was working on her own show called So NoTORIous that was supposed to air on VH1, as well as another new reality series in the works for Oxygen, which will follow her and her husband as they find and refurbish a Southern California inn. Country music artist Brad Paisley and wife/actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley of T.V.’s According to Jim are expecting their first child this month. … Continue reading

Let’s Talk About The Four-Minute Delivery!

Here’s a fun story that I just read about, and think I will share in case you haven’t heard it: January 30, 2007 brought an unexpected surprise to one Missouri woman, who ended up with the “dream delivery” of pregnant women everywhere. A mere four minutes after Christina Palczynksi’s water broke, her little Mary Ellen was born. Christina’s husband had called 911 and the operator walked him through the steps of helping to deliver his daughter – right on the kitchen floor! The family was amazed at such a quick delivery, especially since Christina’s last child took 19 hours to … Continue reading

The Let’s Talk Blog Mid-Month Review

We’re halfway through the first month of the year, and already have touched on some interesting topics! I’ve really enjoyed reading everyones comments and hope that we can continue discussing pregnancy-related issues so openly. We opened the month by talking about pregnant bellies in Let’s Talk About Handling Unwanted Belly Touching. Let’s Talk About Handling Unwanted Belly Comments got several comments, and I’m not surprised – it’s a serious issue for many pregnant women. If you’re looking for help in choosing a baby name, Let’s Talk About Naming Your Baby offers plenty of suggestions – some well-known, and some not … Continue reading

Let’s Talk About Elective Cesareans

Could we assume for a moment that an elective cesarean is in the same category as a nose-job or a face lift? All three are typically unnecessary surgeries that nonetheless carry all the risk of any surgery, and yet the instance of c-sections is on the rise in America. In fact, between the years 1994 and 2001, it rose eight percent and then by 2004, it rose at least eight percent again! If we put elective c-section in the same category as cosmetic surgery, we would have to understand that many people do unnecessary things to their body. There is … Continue reading

Let’s Talk About Your Homebirth Supply List

So you’ve decided to have a homebirth, or maybe you are just curious as to what is needed to give birth at home. There are numerous things that you will be advised to get for a homebirth, but you may not use all of them. Your midwife will probably give you a list of things she requires you to have aside from what she will bring in her birth bag, and this can differ between midwives. Many of these things are right at home, all you have to do is get them all together in a box or basket and … Continue reading

Fame and Pregnancy

Periodically I scan the media for pregnancy-related news. It usually consists of a few new studies, old advice with a new take, and plenty of celebrity-scandal. Hollywood and everyone watching is so obsessed with celebrity pregnancy. I’m really glad I am not famous. Have you ever considered the freedom you have in being anonymous? You can go to a drug store and buy a pregnancy test, or ten pregnancy tests, and no one cares. I know this because when I was trying to get pregnant, I bought ten pregnancy tests at the Dollar General, and the cashier didn’t even blink … Continue reading

Erykah Badu Named her Daughter What?

To me Erykah Badu rather falls in the category of Lisa Bonet in my mind. Both seem to walk to the beat of their own drummer. So, I really should be surprised when I read the name of her new baby daughter – Twitty Milk. Erykah (real name Erica Wright) and her boyfriend, rapper Jay Electronica (real name Je’Ri Allah) welcomed their first child together yesterday. Erykah has an eleven year old son, Seven Sirius, from a previous relationship Outkast’s Andre 3000 (real name Andre Benjamin) and four year old daughter, Puma Rose, from a previous relationship with rapper The … Continue reading

Patrick Swayze Hospitalized and Lisa Bonet Gives Birth

Actor Patrick Swayze has been hospitalized after he was diagnosed with pneumonia. This caused Swayze to miss the Television Critics Association (TCA) press event for his new show “The Beast,” which premieres on A&E January 15th. A&E President Abbe Raven spoke at the event, saying “As we arrive here this morning we have some news. Patrick Swayze has checked himself into the hospital. However, he asked us specifically to go forward with today’s panel. We wish him the very best in his recovery.” A source close to Patrick told PEOPLE that he is not close to death and merely checked … Continue reading

Grease (1978)

“Grease,” first a Broadway hit and then a movie in 1978 starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, has recently been resurrected and is enjoying even more popularity than before. DVDs of the film are being sold wearing little leather jackets, a great marketing ploy, for sure. Danny Zucko (Travolta) and Sandy Olssen (Newton-John) met over the summer at the beach, and fell in love. When they separated, Sandy believed she was moving back to her home in Australia and would never see Danny again. But then her family’s plans change, and she enrolls in high school in the states. As … Continue reading
