What To Include In Your Pregnancy Journal

Pregnancy is a fun topic to write about in a journal. This time in your life is so new and different from any other stage in life. So much is packed into nine months; if you don’t write it down, you’re bound to forget some of it. It can be really entertaining to look back at your pregnancy journal and relive some of the memories (or be grateful that some of them have passed, like morning sickness). Writing about your pregnancy might come naturally for some, but if you’re suffering writer’s block, here are some ideas for what kinds of … Continue reading

How to Include Your (Soon-to-be-Born) Baby at Christmas

There are lots of fun ways to include your soon-to-be born baby at Christmas. Who cares if they don’t know what is going on? For the mother-to-be, this “first” Christmas is just as special as all the Christmases to come. Christmas can almost begin to feel like a baby shower for a pregnant woman. Family members may have gifts for the new baby, such as clothes or toys, and will enjoy watching the new mother open them “for the baby.” Hanging a stocking for the expected baby is a cute way to give small gifts like teething rings, pacifiers or … Continue reading

The Let’s Talk Pregnancy Blog in the New Year

In closing my very first month as a Pregnancy Blogger, I am closing out a year as well. I would like to say thank you to those of you that have read my entries so far. I’m having a wonderful time writing about a topic that is very near and dear to me. I hope you all are enjoying reading as much as I am writing. Here is a look-back on December 2006 and a look forward to the things I will touch on in the New Year: I talked about a lot of things that relate to the first … Continue reading

Let’s Talk About Journaling Your Pregnancy

This is an exciting time in your life, and if it’s your first pregnancy it may be the most memorable time you’ll ever experience. A lot of women keep journals or diaries on a regular basis, and if you don’t, this is the best time to start. The journal will be a keepsake for you and for your unborn child, as well as a means of therapy through writing. There are a lot of pregnancy journal options out there, but I’ve found the best to be a good hard-bound lined journal. I believe that the journals on the market that … Continue reading

Unusual (but Good!) Advice for Pregnant Women

I picked up a few good pieces of advice here and there when I was pregnant, and now I’ll share them with you! From cooking to posture to underwear, pregnancy requires a little modification to your usual routine. Cooking Safety Watch your tummy when you’re cooking dinner, especially if you have a gas range. It’s easy to get too close to the flame when you’re not used to how big your belly is. If you’re baking, keep your shirt clean by wearing an apron to prevent your belly from picking up ingredients like flour off the counter top. Posture Avoid … Continue reading

You Will Forget All Of This

This week I put together a book about my pregnancy and my son’s birth. I collected pictures of ultrasounds, my baby belly and the delivery and paired them up with excerpts from my blog and journal. As I was reading through old blog entries (most of these were private, not publicly posted), I could not believe how much detail I had already forgotten about my pregnancy. I forgot how miserable I was at times! I forgot how tired I was. When I looked at pictures, I realized I had forgotten how big I was! Some of you reading this are … Continue reading

Changes: Anger at Myself

When I wrote Let go of Your Anger, I was writing from experience. Yes, I do get upset with people, but that’s very different from me being angry. I don’t get truly angry very often, and it takes a lot to get me there. One of the biggest emotional changes when I found out that I was going to be a single parent was anger. The anger was not only directed at him either. I was angry at myself as well. I wish now that I would have kept a journal of my time then, because even now, I can’t … Continue reading
