FHE with Small Children-Visiting a Retirement Home

One of the songs we have been learning in the primary program this year is Nephi’s courage. I just love this primary song, and honestly, it gets stuck in my head after every single Sunday. The chorus, “I will go. I will do. The things the Lord commands. I Know the Lord provides a way, He wants me to obey” is very catchy. So, we had a special family home evening at a local retirement home that is in our ward boundaries. Members of our ward take turns doing a FHE with them. Our little family has been asked a … Continue reading

Baby’s First Plane Trip

So in just 3 weeks, I am headed on my first airplane adventure with my little guy. We are flying to Texas to spend some quality time with my extended family. Not only am I taking my baby, but I’m taking my older two kids also. And, no husband. Yikes! I have realized in preparing for this trip that a lot of preparation is necessary. It is kind of stressing me out a little bit, quite frankly. Just the gear needed to travel with three kids is daunting. But, the one that comes with the most necessities is the baby! … Continue reading

Disney Website for New and Expecting Parents

Remember Our365? I don’t expect you do. Almost a year ago I posted about how Disney had teamed up with the organization that helps companies market to expectant parents. Our365 can actually get its partner companies’ representatives into maternity wards to try to sell their wares. For all I know either the company or its partnership is now defunct. But Disney hasn’t stopped sniffing around its coveted new market. On Monday January 17 the House of Mouse launched disneybaby.com. Disney Baby works just like other sites in the Disney Go family, although strangely its URL doesn’t contain the word “go” … Continue reading

Family Home Evening For a New Arrival

Last night, we had a family home evening for the kiddos. My husband and I take turns because our kids are so little that they can’t really prepare a lesson yet. It was a simple one, but it was pertinent to our lives right now. When preparing a family home evening for kids that are so little, it is challenging. My son, who is 2 1/2 has a very short attention span these days. If it’s not making noise, a super hero, or flashing bright lights, he’s not interested. But, last night I was able to captivate them for a … Continue reading

New Friends Next Door

After our most recent time spent with grandparents, uncles, aunts, and other close familiy members our son got used to being around other people. Luckily for him there was also a healthy dose of time he was able to spend with his cousin who is less than one year older than him. This close proximity in age was great. There is something different about seeing other kids. When we were vacationing with his grandparents we noticed a remarkable change in him towards wanting to do what the big kids were doing. If they were playing then he wanted to play. … Continue reading
