The Alternative Gift Registry

I never realized that some people have a negative view towards store registries until reading a very interesting essay on GetRichSlowly.org, entitled, “Wedding Registries: A Love-Hate Relationship,” by Betsy Teutsch. The author recently wrote an update on her own blog that details how her son and daughter-in-law created an alternative registry on AlternativeGiftRegistry.org.The alternative registry allowed the couple to list general needs, rather than specific items from one specific store. While they were able to link to specific items when desired, overall the list allowed guests the freedom to pick out their own gift and still have the convenience of … Continue reading

Registry Details: Diaper Bag Essentials

Over the past year I have picked up pointers and ideas from other moms about which baby accessories are essential and which ones are a waste of cash. I’ve also learned a thing or two from experience. One thing I cannot say enough about is the importance of a well packed diaper bag, something I knew nothing about when I was creating my registry. When you are first handed the registry scanner and you begin to puruse the aisles, it can be overwhelming at first. There are so many products to choose from. Choosing a Store for Your Baby Registry

Before you pick what goes on your registry, you have to choose a store to host your registry. Sometimes picking a store seems harder than choosing the right stroller. Here are some things to remember when selecting the right store to build your registry. First of all, think about your shower’s guest list. Where do they live? Are they willing to travel? You also want … Continue reading

Register Faster

I recognize not every woman loves to register for gifts. It can be time consuming, and when you’re pregnant, spending that much time walking through the store, aisle by aisle, can be daunting. Registering online is certainly an option, but what I discovered when I was registering for my baby shower, is that stores like Babies R Us have a completely separate stock on their website than they do in the store. I talked to an associate recently and he told me that the online store is run separately from the stores; they do not even share the same warehouse! … Continue reading

Shopping for Diaper Bags

When you become pregnant, the realization that your life is about to become a whole lot more complicated probably hits the hardest when you register for baby gear. Suddenly, the car is way too small. The words “travel” and “spontaneous” can no longer be used in the same sentence. The one thing you will always have with you (besides your baby) is the diaper bag. It’s worth spending a little time picking one out! Depending on your lifestyle you may want to get two diaper bags: one for quick trips to the store or a friend’s house and one for … Continue reading
