Thoughts on Pregnancy and Motherhood

Before you get pregnant, nine months sounds like nine days. In your first month of being pregnant, it feels like maybe nine weeks. But by your seventh month, it feels like it's been nine years. And yet, by the time your baby is a year old, you're ready to do it all over again, because it feels like it's been a lifetime since you had a newborn in your arms.

You spend the first eight months of your baby's life trying to get her to move. Then you spend the next eighteen years trying to get her to sit still, at least for a moment, so you can enjoy her company!

Baby laundry is fun, especially while you are pregnant and awaiting your little one's arrival. The clothes are tiny and adorable. The socks are miniature and fun to match and fold. Fifteen years later you find yourself demanding your son washes his own smelly clothes.

You spend the first half of your pregnancy worrying about whether you are gaining enough wait, and often you spend the second half wondering if you are gaining too much!

Motherhood brings the best and the worst out of us. We find ourselves accomplishing things we never thought we could, but when we've reached our limits, we find our ourselves saying things we never thought we would.

Pregnancy is one of the most memorable times in our lives, and yet, it's probably the time we forget the most.

Some of us fill up multiples hard drives with pictures of our first and have a hard time filling a single album with pictures of our third.

It seems like as soon as our babies are sleeping through the night, our bodies are already programmed to wake up in the middle of the night and wonder if they are okay.
